Joseph "Character in the crucible" June - July 2008
How do you overcome the baggage and bad habits picked up in a dysfunctional family? How do you learn to say, "No" to temptation? How do you stand firm when people spread rumors and lies about your character? These are the challenges faced by Joseph in Genesis 37-50. Robbed and sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph could have played have played the "victim" card and lived a life filled with bitterness and hate. Yet he clung tightly to his faith and returned home in triumph to pardon those who had wronged him. In a world where faith is fading and integrity is rare, the story of Joseph demonstrates that following God brings hope even in the worst of circumstances.
